In this tutorial we will concentrate on some toon rendering techniques. The ink’n’paint built in shader is used to achieve the toon effect. The only difference between the 2D and 3D will be material everything else will remain same. It uses raytracing.
Create a plane and place a kettle over it. Press M to open material editor and click standard button and select ink’n’paint material. From paint control you can change the color. Increase the paint level to 4 and render. From ink controls you can change the quality of ink. Change outline color and render it, now you can see the outlines. Ink’n’paint has very simple controls, experiment with them.
